I operated in a safe, and timely manner. I was responsible for large numbers of costly items, some being “sensitive”. I was involved in the startup of a new warehouse for use by a new maintenance contract. Lockheed-Martin, Edison, NJ 2000 to 2005 As Engineering technician, I performed duties as sample receiver, archive and hazardous waste disposal technician. Became familiar with ‘Chain of custody’ procedures, OSHA and RCRA Haz-waste regulations. Assisted in characterizing samples for disposal, was instrumental in the clean up and reordering of the sample archive and instituted new accounting system. Supported the engineering and geology groups in field sampling efforts, preparing samples (soil, sediment, MW and ground water) for shipment to subcontract labs. As sample clerk, verified that sampling is done in compliance with SW-846 and OSW methods and Lockheed SOP. Accomplished other tasks as directed by the Data validation and report writing group, in support of EPA Region II and/ or ERT. Received “Lighting” award in conjunction with my work on the World Trade Center (9/11) response. AFS, Fort Monmouth, NJ (Science Registry) 1998 to 1998 Environmental Technician, I assisted in categorizing hazardous waste and preparing same for shipment. I manned the spill response vehicle. Lab Support 1998 to 1999 Troy Chemical, Newark, NJ Microbiologist conducting bioassay on amended coatings by using ASTM and ATCC procedures for determining the effectiveness or need for preservatives in the clients’ coatings. In keeping with the “Least Effective Dose” principle. Species used include, Altenaria Alternata, Aspergillius sp., Penicellium Sp., E. coli, bascillus sp., pseudomona sps. and various fungi. Chandler USA, Philadelphia, PA Assigned to Chadler USA, a chocolate factory in Paulsboro NJ, as Quality control, followed cGMP and used and Perkin-Elmer Differential Scanning Calorimeter and Oxford NMR and wet chemistry for chemical analysis in foods. Supervised productivity with recommendations to floor personnel, based on Lab results. Protected food safety by use of analysis and supervision of GMP. Inspected raw materials (Cocoa beans), transport and processing machinery. Collected samples aseptically for analysis at outside micro labs. Assisted in R&D by applying analytical results to process machinery. Burlington Motor Carriers, Daleville Indiana 1996 to 1997 Tractor-trailer driver, worked with little direct supervision. Managed time to meet customer deadlines, while complying with federal regulations. Jerry D. Ingram Jr. Soil Microbiology Laboratory, Ithaca New York 1995 to 1996 Department of Soil, Crops and Atmospheric Sciences, Cornell University Duties included but were not limited to, bioassy, chemical separation, maintaining equipment, and organization of stores. Participated in lab-wide haz-mat (OSHA) cleanup, with classification of chemicals, and identification of unknowns. Over 400 items were prepared for waste for disposal. Worked on development of method for preparing used soil for return to the wild and reclamation of lab chemicals. Assisted in bioassay, response to benzene, and DDT derivative, amended soils. This effort was aimed at a mathematical model for predicting the fate of polycyclic hydrocarbons in soil. Mass balance was calculated with data from mechanical extraction, soxlet, and Alexander mineralization studies. Extracts were purified by roto-vap and identified by TLC, HPLC, &/or scintillation counter. Starfire Swords, Spencer New York 1988 to 1995 Blacksmith/Sword maker Production and design of swords, equipment maintenance. Military service, USMC 1980 to 1988 Rank of Sergeant, Combat arms MOSs. Worked with Hazardous Materials. Gained Mechanical skills. Worked with heavy equipment. Supervised between 5 to 15 people. Education: Cornell University, Ithaca New York 1995 Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Education including soil studies and Biological chemistry with molecular biology techniques such as, purification, PCR, blotting, sequencing, sub-cloning and safe handling and use of radio isotopes. Tompkins-Cortland Community College, Dryden New York 1993 Associate Degree in Social Sciences with honors. Professional Qualifications: Micro and food quality lab work (see below) HAZWOPER, 40 Hr, with supervisor, 8 Hr. RCRA Hazardous and toxic waste Management Training, as given by Lion Technology Inc.
